West Midlands NO! campaigners registered the company Birmingham, Coventry & Black Country City Region Limited last year as a publicity stunt to bring attention to the fact that the local authorities involved in the unelected quango were attempting to give it some legitimacy by registering it as a limited company. We spoilt their fun for a while by registering their name first.
We achieved our aim of getting publicity - pretty much every local and regional newspaper covered the story. It hasn’t stopped them but it slowed them down for a while and at least they can’t use that bloody stupid name!
